Description

This must be to most time consuming piece I ever bothered to paint. It must have undergone hundreds of concept changes, every little detail, part of the body repainted twice if not more… I was tired of seeing it at the end. This is the last time I ever start to paint before having a STRONG concept already in my mind.

This is GOD. Yep, although I don’t believe in God, I painted my version of him. He is currently concentrating hard, creating earth, starting up the huge task by building the sky. the reason why he has no legs is because he's vanishing, moving from one place to another, with the help of the magical feathers that are gradually covering up his body.
Don’t ask me why he has a bellybutton if he’s God!

This was painted from scratch in PhotoshopCS, with a Wacom tablet, several references used, me among others. I was the main reference for the pose and anatomy. (I’m not that muscled though).
I’m too tired tonight to post the ref, if you really want to see it, just ask and I’ll post it.

Comments and critique are welcome.

It's beautiful. :)
I like the concept and how God has such remarkable hair.
It's kind of weird how is body just disappears in the end though.
Otherwise, I love it.

Aah. The chained lord of fire, turned out to be the god, eh? It's great, and you've spent a real long time on this. My top mark.

While I do think this is made quite a bit better than Come on, follow me naughty boy! by Forum moderator JordanRoots , I think the background doesn't seem powerful enough to emphasize the godness.
The character and background are nicely rendered, though.
The lighting also seems to be fairly accurate, too.

I think this is your most imaginative piece and you are getting better all the time. I like the flamey sky behind and the orb.

thewallflower, I've edited the description so as to answer your question. Thanks :)

slapo: lol, you're right about my previous painting. I wanted a simple background so as to not distract the eye off the main character. :)

anDy: Yo andydude! Thanks!

As I said on DA : If I had chance I would fix a bunch of more things, and the staff is too boring to my taste :).
However, 9/9 for your great improvement. I wish I could paint as well as you do.

I KNOW you must be so tired of this with all the work you've put into it and so tired of hearing crits, but I have two minor ones, should you ever choose to come back to work on it:

  • His left nipple is really low! (I don't have a fetish, I promise!)
  • The chains on his arm look to be a totally different color than the ones on his chest (and I'm not sure if the lighting would affect it that much) and they look a little undone-ish.
The rest is GORGEOUS! The light sources are great: the orb, fire, and...the big bang? The feathers are great too! 7/7

Looks very nice!
The one main critique I would have is that is right arm, at first glimpse, looks like a stump that that is burning at the end of it. The perspective isn't necessarily wrong...its just that maybe the piece would be better if you placed the right arm in such a way where you weren't forced to put it in such an awkward perspective.

Only after close inspection did I notice that there was a hand and fingers there.

Other than that, excellent piece

thank you both Florence and cupcake. :)
Vorphalack, yeah, I've been told that before. you're right, of course :)
thanks!

GOSH i'm late with commenting on this^^
this is a bit like i used to imagine god when i was very little..
i dont believe in god either, and i think its a very cool idea to paint him like this.
the feathers are my favorite part, they're amazing.
the hair and the lighting are awesome too.
what i dont really like is his right arm, it looks too short for me.
man jordan this IS one amazing painting.
